Worth It or Not? Davidoff Escurio 10th Anniversary Gran Toro Limited Edition Review

July 9, 2025 Usman Dawood 2 min read

Davidoff’s Escurio 10th Anniversary Gran Toro is a limited edition release for 2025, made with aged Dominican and Brazilian tobaccos and rolled in a chunky 56 ring gauge format. In this video I smoke it from start to finish and give my honest take on how it holds up.

Davidoff has built its name on refinement. Their cigars are all about balance, nuance and reliable construction. Most of the white band range sticks to that formula. But the black band lines go in a different direction. Escurio is one of them, bringing in spicy Brazilian tobacco and pairing it with smoother Dominican leaf for something a little punchier.

This anniversary edition pushes things even further. One of the Dominican fillers has been aged in bourbon casks, and the combined age of the tobaccos comes to 45 years. That’s rare, even by Davidoff’s standards. The size also stands out. At 6 inches long and 56 ring gauge, it’s bigger than what most Davidoff smokers are used to, especially since the brand usually sticks to more traditional formats.

Limited editions are where Davidoff tries new things. They aren’t meant to stick around. Once they’re sold out, that’s it. That gives them freedom to experiment — with blends, formats, or reworked versions of existing lines. For collectors and cigar nerds, it’s a chance to try something that won’t be around forever.

In this video I go through the full cigar, from the rough opening to the much better middle and final third. I talk construction, flavour changes and how it compares to other Davidoffs, especially the Late Hour Churchill. If you’re on the fence about whether to try it or not, this should help you make the call.
