Davidoff Late Hour Belicoso Cigar 2026 Review
Davidoff Winston Churchill The Late Hour Belicoso is the latest release from the brand. This cigar is a 4 and a half inch belicoso with a 46 ring gauge, sold in tins of four and made as a medium filler tobacco.
The Late Hour line has built a strong reputation because it delivers a richer, darker profile while still feeling polished, and this belicoso is Davidoff’s attempt to put that same character into a smaller, more portable format at a lower price than the long filler sizes. Davidoff classifies it as medium filler, which means it uses a mix of short filler and long filler tobacco rather than being fully long filler, and that matters because mixed filler tends to burn hotter if you rush it.
Blend wise, Davidoff lists an Ecuadoran wrapper, a Mexican binder, and filler tobaccos from the Dominican Republic and Nicaragua, with some of the Nicaraguan tobacco aged in casks that previously held Scotch whisky. Production is in the Dominican Republic, and the packaging is a straightforward metal tin of four, which makes sense for a cigar designed to be carried around and smoked without needing a full evening set aside.
In our latest video we reviewed the Late Hour Belicoso to see whether it actually delivers the Late Hour identity, or whether the smaller format and mixed filler approach turns it into a watered down version. The short answer is that it comes across as a proper Late Hour, with that bold, peppery start, a malted barley feel, and a touch of sweetness early on, then moving into a more chocolate and earthy direction as the cigar settles, all while staying smooth and controlled.
Where the medium filler build shows up is in the way you have to smoke it. If you take heavy pulls, it is easier to overheat than a long filler Late Hour, but if you keep the pace calm, the draw and burn can be excellent and the flavour holds together without becoming harsh or bitter. It is also not a quick throwaway smoke in real terms, because even in this smaller size it can burn slower than you would expect when you keep the temperature down.
Pricing will vary by market, but the listed US retail price is $12.40 per cigar, while in the UK it is currently around £17 per cigar depending on retailer. Davidoff positions it as a shorter, more accessible entry point into the Late Hour profile, and it is expected to start shipping from 22 January 2026.
