H. Upmann Magnum Finite Edición Limitada 2024 Review: It’s Not Ready!

July 31, 2025 Usman Dawood 3 min read

H. Upmann returns with the Magnum Finite Edición Limitada 2024 the second Cuban limited edition release of the year and the latest entry in the long running Edición Limitada program from Habanos. In this video we take a detailed look at the cigar’s presentation vitola construction and how it performs straight out of the box with no aging.

Magnum Finite debuts in a completely new vitola for H. Upmann known as Singulares measuring 5 1/8 inches by 53 ring gauge. Rolled at the Partagás factory in Havana the cigar uses tobacco grown in Cuba’s famed Vuelta Abajo region aged for a minimum of two years as required for all Edición Limitada releases. It is offered in 25 count dress boxes with a total production capped at 5000 boxes for global distribution.

Visually it is a bold release. The cigar wears a modified H. Upmann Magnum band wider and slightly more ornate alongside the official Edición Limitada 2024 secondary band. Combined the bands take up a significant portion of the cigar which makes the vitola look smaller than it is. But make no mistake this is a chunky robusto extra with serious presence in the hand.

We received this cigar directly from Tabacalera SLU during a recent visit to Spain and were grateful to be given the opportunity to try it so early. In the video we light up and get straight into a full review focusing on how it performs fresh with no resting no humidor time just straight off the shelf.

First Impressions

The cigar opens with a sharp chalky harshness that dominates the profile. There are hints of dried fruit buried underneath but they are difficult to access through the minerality and young tobacco character. The draw is excellent and construction is solid throughout but the early flavour experience is far from enjoyable.

As the cigar progresses to the halfway mark some of that initial harshness fades. The fruity notes begin to show themselves more clearly with a mix of sweetness and a touch of oaty character but the overall balance is still off. It feels like a cigar with potential something that could evolve into something impressive but right now it is not there.

By the final third the burn has improved significantly. The draw remains perfect. Chalkiness fades away almost completely and the fruit notes deepen. Still there is a lingering roughness that holds it back from being truly enjoyable. Compared to other Magnum series cigars like the Magnum 46 Magnum 50 or Magnum 54 this one falls short in its current state.

Final Thoughts

This cigar needs time. It is clear the tobacco has not settled yet and that aging will likely bring out far more refinement and complexity. But a limited edition cigar should still be enjoyable at release. It should not rely solely on potential or require years in the humidor to be considered good.

We have had great experiences with other cigars in the Magnum line and that is what makes this one particularly disappointing right now. It is not a bad cigar it is just not ready. And when compared to the Ramón Allones Absolutos which was also released this year the gap in quality is clear. That cigar was fantastic straight out of the box. This one is not.

For collectors this may be worth buying and storing. For casual smokers looking for immediate enjoyment this is one to revisit in a few years. Full thoughts and live impressions are in the video.
