Monaco Part One: Inside the Casino de Monte Carlo
In this first part of the series, Kirby Allison travels to Monaco for a rare look inside one of its most iconic landmarks, the Casino de Monte Carlo. Joined by Dominique Gyselinck of Dominique London, Kirby explores the history, architecture and atmosphere of the building that helped shape the identity of modern Monaco.
The video opens with Kirby retracing a historic drive along the Riviera in a vintage Bentley before arriving at the casino. Inside, he is given access to rooms that have welcomed royalty, artists and dignitaries for over 150 years. Together with Dominique, he steps onto the main casino floor to play French roulette under the same chandeliers that once lit figures such as Grace Kelly and Winston Churchill.
They are joined by Stéphane Valeri, President-Delegate of Société des Bains de Mer, who shares insight into Monaco’s development and the legacy of François Blanc. Valeri explains how the casino was designed not just as a gaming salon but as a cultural and architectural landmark. He also describes SBM’s continuing role in combining heritage with innovation across the principality.
The conversation covers the evolution of the casino, its importance in the identity of Monaco and the way SBM has preserved the elegance and traditions of the past while introducing new experiences. While the new Monte Carlo Cigar Club is mentioned, it is not shown in this video. The club will be the focus of a later episode.
Part one offers a close look at the Casino de Monte Carlo and its significance, blending history with first-hand experience. It sets the stage for what is to follow in the next chapter of the series.
