European Warehouse for My Father Cigars

May 5, 2022 Inspector Z 2 min read

For cigar manufacturers shipping for the European markets can be a time consuming and difficult proces. A lot of small orders, a lot of paperwork and because every single country has it’s own set of rules it can be a hassle. That’s why many companies are working with European warehouses.

Oliva stared it a decade ago, with a warehouse in The Netherlands from which they supplied every country worldwide except for the USA. That warehouse is now in Belgium though, since it’s part of J. Cortes and Cortes has their headquarters and warehouse in Zwevegem. In the recent years Alec Bradley set up headquarters with their German distributer Wolfertz, RoMa Craft has their European business handled by Schuster, Ashton has a warehouse with their German distributer, Perdomo has stock in Europe but soon we can add another major cigar manufacturer with a European warehouse.

My Father Cigars is building a European warehouse at the office of the Dutch importer & distributer Longfiller Company. The Longfiller Company has a lot of experience with international distribution since they handled all of Oliva’s international distribution before Oliva was sold to J. Cortes.

Having a European warehouse is beneficial, not just because it’s much easier on the administrative staff in Nicaragua, shipping is also easier due to having to ship just one container instead of 25 different shipments. For the local distributers, it’s cheaper since shipping from The Netherlands is cheaper than shipping from Nicaragua plus it’s easier to order smaller orders yet more often, which is good for the cash flow. So in our opinion My Father Cigars did a smart thing by building a European warehouse with a reliable partner. The warehouse should be finished next week, then it’s just a matter of time before the first cigars will arrive.
