New cigar club in Indonesia

There is a new cigar club in Indonesia, the Aceh Cigar Club, located in Banda Aceh. They had their first club night last week. Cigar smoking is booming in a lot of South East Asian countries, including Indonesia.

The availability of cigars in Banda Aceh is not as widespread as in other parts of the country and the club wants to change that by promoting cigar smoking in general. They also want to promote the Indonesian premium cigar industry, as well as the boutique factories that are producing cigars in Indonesia.

Many cigar smokers think that premium cigars only come from the Caribbean. Cuba, Nicaragua, Dominican Republic, Honduras, and Costa Rica as main producers and surrounding countries as smaller producers. But Asia has some cigar producers too, in The Philippines and Indonesia, there s a long tobacco culture. Most of the tobacco is used for dry cured shortfiller cigars, mass-market products but a handful of producers in both countries make premium longfillers too. And that’s one of the messages that the Aceh Cigar Club wants to spread.

During their first club night, the owner of Boss Image Nusantara (BIN Cigar), was there to educate the 30+ members of the club about tobacco and to promote his brand. The Aceh Cigar Club hopes that in the future other local powerhouses and boutique brands will be able to join their regular club nights.
