A Maduro Celebration for Casdagli’s Cabinet Selection
A Maduro celebration for Casdagli’s Cabinet Selection. The 4×46 Pyramid size, the Rosetta, will launch in a Maduro version to commemorate the 5th birthday of the line. The Rosetta was the first vitola of the line and it one of the top 5 most sought-after Casdagli cigars.
Sweden
The first boxes are going to Sweden. To the Casdagli distributor Kind Cigars. Kind Cigars gets the premiere because it was Kind Cigars owner, Martin Brix Nelson is The Godfather of the Cabinet Selection. “The Rosetta cigar was born during a most interesting conversation about a perfect cigar addition to the Swedish coffee shops,” Casdagli recalls. The rest of the world will see the cigars showing up in June.
The pair was visiting shops in Sweden and Brix Nelson was telling Casdagli that coffee is not just coffee in Sweden, it’s a lifestyle. It’s part of an important social interaction. Sweden is in the top three of the world’s biggest coffee consumers per capita. While Swedes certainly drink coffee in the morning like the rest of us, what’s even more important in this Scandinavian country is the coffee break – fika. So designing a short smoke to be enjoyed during the whole nation’s all-important fika seemed like hitting a perfect sweet spot.
A new wrapper
“Rarely can you change the wrapper leaf without tampering with the binder and filler whilst maintaining a well-balanced and tasty cigar that is still true to its elder brother the Rosetta,” says Jeremy Casdagli, the Founder of Casdagli Cigars.
Yet in this case, it’s done. The Dominican Cotui wrapper is replaced by an Ecuadorian Corojo Natural Maduro wrapper. That transforms the milk chocolate notes into dark chocolate notes. The rest of the blend remains unchanged. The Rosetta Maduro is carefully created using the traditional time-honored curing method by Casdagli Cigars’ Master Blender Hendrik Kelner Jr of the Kelner Boutique Factory.
Cabinet Selection
True to the original spirit of the origins of this line, the Cabinet Selection cigars are designed to be paired with coffee drinks and all carry coffee-related names: Rosetta, Ristretto, Romano.
“It has been a pleasure seeing our baby, the Rosetta, taking the world by storm the past 5 years. Whilst the Rosetta works best with coffee with some milk added, the Maduro version makes the perfect addition for a straight espresso. I am very happy with how the switch of, just the wrapper, completely changed the profile of this little masterpiece. I am very proud to be a part of this project,” adds Martin Brix Nelson of Kind Cigars.
