Alec Bradley hooligans return. The cigar company brings back the popular Black Market Filthy Hooligan Barber Pole and Black Market Filthy Hooligan Shamrock. The limited-edition cigars will be returning in February 2022. With the resounding success of the limited edition green cigars, the Filthy Hooligan duo have cemented themselves as the cigar industry’s equivalent to the Spring Equinox.

2022 marks the tenth release of the Filthy Hooligan project, which has become fluid over the years. 2013, 2014, and 2015 saw the original Filthy Hooligan iteration, which was a straight Candela-wrapped cigar. From 2016 and on, Alec Bradley has issued the Filthy Hooligan Barber Pole, featuring dual wrappers: Nicaraguan Habano and Candela. In 2019, the triple wrapped Filthy Hooligan Shamrock was added to the line, showcasing natural Nicaraguan Habano, Maduro Nicaraguan Habano, and candela wrappers. 

Conversation piece

“Hooligans have become a perpetual conversation piece for the cigar community,” said Alec Bradley founder, Alan Rubin. “Anticipation is built up by our brand advocates year over year, ahead of a release. Because of that, more smokers are finding the opportunity to experience the unique flavor characteristics that candela tobacco can bring to a blend.”

According to Rubin, Alec Bradley has secured a specially selected aged candela wrapper from Nicaragua to keep limited quantities of the Hooligans available for 2022. With the increasing popularity and consumption of green wrapper in European markets, aged candela is becoming very difficult to source. To keep the Hooligan project viable, Alec Bradley is limiting the upcoming release of Filthy Hooligan Barber Pole to 2000, twenty-four count boxes (48,000 cigars) and 1500, ten-count boxes (15,000 cigars) of Filthy Hooligan Shamrock.

Toro sizes 

The Barber Pole and Shamrock are both 6″x 50 ring gauge Toro-sized cigars. Outside of their respective wrappers, they both share the same interior blend: Sumatra binder, with Panamanian and Honduran filler tobaccos. The 2022 Black Market Filthy Hooligan Barber Pole release is being presented in a handsome green and black striped box, containing 24 cigars. MSRP per cigar has been set to $11.15 for the United States. International pricing will vary due to different taxes in different countries.

The 2022 Black Market Filthy Hooligan Shamrock is being presented in an attractive grey box, featuring a large shamrock on the top of the lid, containing 10 cigars. MSRP per cigar has been set to $13.25 domestically. International pricing will vary.

Both Filthy Hooligan cigars are being produced at Tobacos De Oriente in Danli, Honduras, and will ship to tobacconists in February 2022. Several international Alec Bradley importers & distributors confirmed to us that they will have boxes coming in. These countries include The Netherlands, Germany, Switzerland, New Zealand, and a country in Asia that cannot be named.
