Davidoff reveals Year of the Ox line. By now it’s a tradition that Davidoff releases cigars, accessories, and pipe tobacco for the Chinese zodiac calendar annually. And with the Year of the Ox coming, the new line is called Year of the Ox. Last week, we showed the first pictures of the Davidoff Year of the Ox cigar and confirmed the Year of the Ox pipe tobacco. Accessories were unconfirmed at that time. But in a press release, Davidoff announced a Year of the Ox lighter, ashtray, and cutters as well.
Year of the Ox cigar
This year, the cigar is a 6×60 gordo that comes in boxes of 10 cigars. Only 1390 boxes are available worldwide. A beautiful dark brown Dominican wrapper makes the outside of the blend. Inside there is an Ecuadorian binder. The filler comes from Nicaragua and the Dominican Republic. The Master Blenders from Davidoff created the cigar with the character of the Ox in mind. Ambitious, dependable, and supportive. According to the Zodiac calendar, the ox characteristics are diligence, dependability, strength, and determination.
In the Chinese tradition, red and gold are important colors. They stand for prosperity and wealth. The Davidoff Year of the Ox Limited Edition comes in a beautiful box of ten cigars featuring signature red lacquer, gold accents, and a simple yet sophisticated icon representing the horns of an ox. Year of the Ox pipe tobacco
The same red and gold color scheme comes back in the tins for the pipe tobacco. There are 4500 tins available worldwide. Each tin has a unique number. The blenders use Asian flavors as an influence and inspiration. Due to the use of Black Cavendish and exclusive Virginia tobaccos from China, Malawi, and India, Burly, Orchid aroma and anise the blenders captured those Asian flavors. According to the blenders, this tobacco is elegant and complex. Orchid, ripe apple, and licorice combine well with the sweetness and subtle spiciness of this blend.
Year of the Ox accessories
Davidoff releases an accessory set. double blade cutter with the Davidoff Year of the Ox logo engraved. There is also a beautiful single flame torch. To top it off, the accessory set also contains a Davidoff Year of the Ox ashtray. There are two different sets available. The sets include the same ashtray and lighter, yet a different design of the cutter. Only 400 Davidoff Year of the Ox accessory sets are available, 200 of each.
The cigars, pipe tobacco, and accessory sets are being distributed to Davidoff merchants and flagship stores worldwide. Pricing and availability will be different in each individual market, just as the introduction date.
