Weekly news week 5 2021

July 26, 2022 Inspector Z 3 min read

Weekly news week 5 2021. We applaud cigar companies that take their responsibility. That’s why we have been writing about cigar charities, with more episodes to come. But taking responsibility doesn’t just mean giving to charity. The German CigarKings is offsetting their carbon footprint with a reforestation program in Nicaragua. That makes their cigars climate neutral

Reviews

As always we published two reviews. Two cigars from Drew Estate. Still cigars from the Liga Privada Year of the Rat sampler. Since the Year of the Rat is coming to an end, it is only appropriate to review the cigars before February 12th. This week the Drew Estate Liga Privada Flying Pig #9 and the Liga Privada Flying Pig T52 from the sampler went up in smoke.

News

Habanos made the news twice this week. First with the arrival of the Habanos Point concept on the Canary Islands. The second piece of Habanos news comes from Germany, Austria, and Poland. The official Habanos distributor in these countries, 5th Avenue, saw the demand for Cuban cigars explode in 2020. Related to Habanos but coming from the Dominican Republic is VegaFina. Pacific Cigar Company was the host of a virtual launch of the VegaFina Year of the Ox in Asia. With Pedro Ventura and Javier Elmudesi as special guests.

The Dominican brand La Galera brings two of its lines to Switzerland. And a third line is coming to the Central European country soon. Up north, in Norway, cigar enthusiasts are expecting the arrival of two rare Casdagli cigars. These cigars were previously exclusively available in the D’Boiss Cigar Club in Tallinn, Estonia, or Club Mareva Beirut, Lebanon. Steve Saka of Dunbarton Tobacco & Trust spilled some beans on Facebook. He is planning to release a sampler with 5 limited edition cigars under the name Bento Box later this year.

Events

One of the major events in the cigar industry in the United States took place in Tampa. In Ybor City to be precise. The El Reloj factory from J.C. Newman is now open to the public after a two-year renovation. It includes a cigar museum and more. Protocol Cigars is hosting the second Protocol Pool Party in Pennsylvania this summer. And if you want to enjoy a week of food, wine, and cigars, join the Principle Cigars Experience in Belgrade, Serbia. This was the weekly news week 5 2021.
