Kafie 1901 Cigars Comes with Small Batches

October 24, 2022 Inspector Z 2 min read

Kafie 1901 Cigars comes with small batches. From the second quarter of this year, the Honduran Boutique brand is releasing a series of small batches with unique blends. Each blend gets a specific vitola that fits the blend best to offer the best possible experience. Each batch is limited to 2000 cigars only. Only brick & mortar cigar shops and their respective websites can carry these small batches.

In an e-mail to us, Dr. Gaby Kafie explains the project. “The unique thing about this project is that when you have a cigar factory, you tend to come across small batches of tobacco which are not in sufficient quantities to really create a permanent line. Nor are they in sufficient quantities to create a brand. The return on investment is just not there. So, I decided to have fun with the project,” Dr. Kafie writes.

Core brands

Kafie continues that for years his focus was on the core brands. That Kafie 1901 Cigars does not deviate in producing new blends. But “For many years, I focused merely on making cigars that I like … ignoring the fact that we make cigars for others to enjoy as well. This unselfish approach to blending I believe will further our reach and recognition as a factory and a brand,” he says. This project gives Kafie Cigars and Tabacalera San Jeronimo the opportunity to create exciting and small projects. And it opens a dialog with consumers, to get feedback on what the cigar enthusiasts like and what they are looking for in cigars.

“Our master blenders and I feel that producing the same blends year over year is great as there is a certain level of mastery involved in maintaining the consistency of a blend. But this new platform allows us to get creative and have fun,” Kafie continues.

Pricing and packaging

For these small batches, Kafie Cigars is taking an aggressive position when it comes to pricing. The cigars will all be around $5 MSRP. The project is a thank you for the support, and an opportunity to give back. Each small batch is coming as a 10-count bundle. The cigars are labeled and come in cellophane. The bundles are wrapped in both cellophane and heavy-duty craft paper to protect the cigars during transport.
