Maradona Cigars in The Netherlands and Belgium
Maradona cigars in The Netherlands and Belgium. The legendary Argentian football star Diego Maradona was an avid cigar aficionado. He’s been spotted with cigars on many occasions. He picked up smoking cigars after visiting Cuba for medical treatments. He became close friends with the Castro’s and even had a tattoo of Che Guevara on his arm.
Maradona Cigars
Before suddenly passing away on November 25 of last year, Maradona was planning on releasing a cigar. For that, he was talking to The Traveler Cigars from Nicaragua. And a final blend was selected by Diego Maradona himself. But before the cigars could hit the international markets, Maradona’s heart gave out.

The Traveler Cigars are still releasing the cigars. But now as a Maradona Tribute. Made in Esteli, at American Caribbean Cigars, and in one size only. That is a 5×50 robusto. The cigars come with an Ecuadorian Habano wrapper. The binder is Mexican San Andres. The filler comes from Nicaragua and Honduras. That the cigar uses Mexican tobacco is a nice touch, as Maradona’s last coaching job was in Mexico. There is a great documentary series about Maradona in Sinaloa available on Netflix.
The artwork on the cigars carries Maradona’s name and his number. Maradona always played with the number 10. The inside of the beautiful piano lacquered black box has his autograph. Each box contains 20 cigars, where smaller boxes of 10 would have been more fitting considering his number.
The cigars are now available in The Netherlands and Belgium at select retailers through distributor Gajane Benelux. A box has a fixed price of €450 in both countries.
