Casa Magna Returns to The Netherlands
Casa Magna returns to The Netherlands. After a short hiatus, Casa Magna returns to The Netherlands. And not just to The Netherlands but from there the once famous brand should expand worldwide. The Dutch distributor Longfiller Company now has the distribution rights for the whole of Europe and Asia. With the network of Sasja Van Horssen, Cigar Enthusiasts can expect the Casa Magna cigars in plenty of countries.
a brief history
When industry legends Manolo Quesada and Nestor Plasencia sr joined forces they created a masterpiece. The Casa Magna Colorado series. The first release in 2008 had a nuclear impact on the cigar communities. It was a fantastic cigar, for a friendly price. It even won the Cigar Aficionado Top 25 of that year. And it became an instant international hit.
Several offsprings appeared. The Casa Magna Oscuro, made in Honduras. Casa Magna Domus Magnus and the Domus Magnus II with the unusual shapes, Casa Magna Jalapa, and a box-press version of the Casa Magna Colorado to name a few. But for several reasons, international sales collapsed. Importers decided to discontinue the brand due to supply issues and price increases. Casa Magna is now nowhere compared to where they were a decade ago.
A new start
Van Horssen is the owner of Longfiller Company, Cigaragua, and several Van Dalen Cigars retail shops in The Netherlands. He now has his eyes set on international expansion. Procuring the rights to Casa Magna for Europe and Asia fits in that narrative. Van Horssen already contacted a few distributors in his network, and they are all keen to take on Casa Magna now that Van Horssen is involved.
The cigars are coming from the Plasencia Cigars factory in Esteli, but Van Horssen is distributing the cigars from his warehouse in The Netherlands. My Father Cigars & Tatuaje are using the same warehouse for their international markets. The first container full of Casa Magna is currently on its way to The Netherlands. In a conversation with us, Van Horssen says that he’s only focussing on the Casa Magna Colorado for now.
