Tarazona Cigars announces a new Limited Edition. The new Tarazona La Tampeña is the first Edicion Limitada from the Tarazona Discovery Series. It is an homage to the women of Tampa. Back in the day, Tampa was the epicenter of American cigar manufacturing. And most employees of the cigar factories were women. Most came from Cuba to Tampa in the late 1800s due to the cigar trade. That’s part of the history of Eddie Tarazona, the owner and founder of Tarazona cigars.

Especially the historic district of Ybor City is renowned for its cigar history. Unfortunately, not much is left due to the Great Depression, mechanization, and the rise in wages. The United States can’t compete with low wages in the Dominican, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, and Honduras. From all the large factories, only one remains. El Reloj from J.C. Newman is still producing cigars in Tampa. But that doesn’t make Tampa a place to ignore, if you love cigars, you must visit Tampa at least once in your life.

La Tampeña will be the first limited edition release in the Tarazona Discovery Series. What Taranoza’s plans for the series are he is yet to reveal. The cigars come from Nicaragua, Esteli. The 10.000 cigars are coming from Tabacalera Papito Gomez. That is the factory of Juan “Pepito” Alberto Gomez-Pacheco. There are 1000 boxes available that will start shipping to retailers in early June.

 The blend of the cigars is all Nicaraguan. Nicaraguan filler and binder with a Habano Criollo wrapper from the fertile soil of the northern tobacco grounds in Jalapa. Jalapa is the most northern tobacco region of Nicaragua, bordering Honduras. The cigar is only available in one size, a 6×52 Toro. The MSRP before tax is 16 dollars per cigar or 160 dollars per box.
