Weekly news week 15 2021
Weekly news week 15 2021. For several months now we use the first Sunday of the month to publish a special about a cigar industry legend. The second Sunday of the month is all about cigar-related charities. And since last Sunday was the second Sunday of the month, we looked into charity. This time in the efforts of Joya de Nicaragua to educate children by supporting two schools. And also on their work with the Nicaraguan Tobacco Chamber to restore the Esteli River.
Review
The two reviews of this week are reviews of brand new cigars. Just a month ago, Condega Cigars announced a new Condega. A limited-edition Serie S. One that pays tribute to the volcanic soil in Nicaragua, the Condega Serie S Masaya. And we reviewed the Condega Serie S Masaya Epicure. The second cigar review is from an even younger cigar. This cigar premiered just a week ago at a virtual premiere at the Cohiba Atmosphere in Kuala Lumpur. It is the first-ever regional edition for Malaysia by Habanos. The San Cristobal de la Habana Harimau Malaya.

European news vs the rest of the world
Good news and bad news for the Belgian cigar enthusiasts. The bad news is that Scandinavian Tobacco Group confirms that it stops distributing La Aurora. La Aurora is the oldest cigar manufacturer in the Dominican Republic. But there is good news too. Steve Saka’s Dunbarton Tobacco & Trust is coming to Belgium via the new distributor Media Rueda. Fuente joins forces with La Casa del Tabaco for distribution in Spain. And Small Batch Traders is a new distributor for the Dutch Market. They will introduce CigarKings, Tabacalera Palma, De Los Reyes, and Debonaire House soon.
But there are things happening elsewhere in the world as well. There is a new Habanos specialist in Doha, Qatar. Plasencia is now officially represented in New Zealand by Canteros. Michael Herklots is teaming up with his old employer Davidoff USA for the distribution of Ferio Tego. Pete Johnson of Tatuaje Cigars is a big tease on social media. His latest tease is a Tatuaje advent calendar he’s working on for the end of the year. Boveda discontinues its Boveda Butler. And both Tarazona Cigars and Crowned Heads are releasing new limited edition cigars. Jessi Flores, the famous Nicaraguan artist, is joining Mombacho Cigars.
Zoom session
But the most exciting news is actually news to come. Ministry of Cigars has the honor to be the special guest in the upcoming zoom session of the Zoom Cigar Lounge UK. This coming Tuesday at 7 PM London time, I will be talking about the cigar industry, cigar media, and many other topics during the live session. Join in, as there won’t be a live stream. This was the weekly news of week 15, 2021.
