Weekly news week 16 2021
Weekly news week 16 2021. When you’re as involved and invested in the cigar industry as we are, you get approached by a lot of brands. And what we, and other cigar media, see is that there are small manufacturers and/or private labels that try to lift on the success of others. Instead of being creative and built a brand on its own merits, they decide to copycat. They use a name or a logo similar to that of a bigger brand, in the hope to get sales. We do not like that, don’t be a copycat.
Reviews
The reviews of this week are both cigars from Nicaragua. And both on the high end of the scale. One from Joya de Nicaragua, from the Maestro Obras series. Those are the top-of-the-line cigars from Joya de Nicaragua. And the Cinco Decadas El Embargo is a European exclusive Edicion Limitada. The second cigars is another Edicion Limitada release but this time from HENK. The German luxury brand has a few cigars with vintage tobaccos. They scored high in the Top 25 of 2019 and 2020. And it would not surprise us if the HENK Maori La Doña makes the top 25 of 2021.

News
HENK made the front page twice this week. There is also a new accessory, the HENK CigarTank. Another company that made the front page twice is Davidoff. The 2013 Davidoff Club House returns as a small batch. First for Switzerland, and a few days later also in the United States. A.J. Fernandez is releasing the Enclave Connecticut just for international markets. And Alex Spencer Reserva comes with a new size and a new blend for his Mansa cigars.
Fuente is expanding the Arturo Fuente Rare Pink line. There will be new sizes available and for each box sold a donation of $13 is made to the American Cancer Society. This is to raise money to fight breast cancer. There is a new Habanos Specialist store in Luanda, Angola. The selection of Illusione Cigars in Norway is expanding again. And talking about Norway, the Norwegian cigar group Cigarissimo is hosting virtual herfs on Zoom. Coming Tuesday at 9 pm CET, Ministry of Cigars is the special guest. Tabacalera is releasing the ninth Collection Vintage in Spain.

Trouble in paradise
The cigar industry is small, and most of the time very amicable. Friendly competition and most disputes are settled in a gentlemanly manner. There are many of those cases known. But every now and then there is a legal pursuit. This time it is Aganorsa Leaf suing Mombacho Cigars over a trademark infringement. This was the weekly news from week 16 of 2021.
