Drew Estate celebrates 10 years of Undercrown
Drew Estate celebrates 10 years of Undercrown. In 2011 a team of factory workers at La Gran Fabrica Drew Estate made the original Undercrown, now known as Undercrown Maduro. Five years later the next Undercrown appeared, with a Connecticut Shade wrapper. In 2017 the latest Undercrown blend became available, the Undercrown Sun Grown.
Since then, there are no new regular production Undercrown blends. There are new sizes and with Cigar Dojo some Undercrown Dogma cigars were made. But that changes now. To celebrate the 10th birthday of Undercrown, Drew Estate is releasing the Undercrown 10.
Undercrown 10
The new blend is called Undercrown 10 and will come in four regular production sizes. These are a 5×50 Robusto, 6×52 Toro, 7×50 Corona Doble, and 5×43 Corona Viva. All come in boxes of 20. And the release will kick off with a limited edition 6×46 Lonsdale. This special edition is Willy Herrera’s favorite vitola and the box will have the tobacco library.
To make this cigar, Herrera put the old band back together. The team that made the original Undercrown Maduro made the Undercrown 10 too. The wrapper is a Mexican San Andres from high priming. The binder is Connecticut River Valley Broadleaf around Nicaraguan filler. Jonathan Drew describes the blend as “Mexican hot chocolate”.
It would not be a Drew Estate release if there wasn’t a lot of swag. There will be a swag pack that comes in a shoulder bag. The bag contains a challenge coin, a knife, a travel humidor, a flask, a cutter, and an Undercrown flag.
Event only cigar
The Undercrown events’ only cigar for the last years was the Undercrown Manifesto. Drew Estate is retiring that cigar but there is a new event-only coming. That’s the Undercrown Tuani. Tuani is Nicaraguan slang for greatness. Just as other Drew Estate event-only cigars this comes in a box of two and will only be available at events where Pedro Gomez Rodriguez is representing Drew Estate.
