First Smoke am Wasserturm Gronau

First Smoke am Wasserturm Gronau. The Whisky & Cigar Salon in Gronau, Germany, is hosting a new event. The Smoke am Wasserturm Cigar Fair. Wasserturm is German for water tower. Last year May was supposed to be the first edition of a cigar fair, right at the foot of a water tower in Gronau. The square in front of the whisky & cigar salon has an old water tower. 

But the covid-19 pandemic made it impossible to host such an event. Han Hilderink, the owner of the Whisky & Cigar Salon had no choice but the cancel the event. But on September 11th, 18 months after the initial date, Gronau will have its cigar fair. Unfortunately, not at the foot of the water tower. The square with the iconic Van Delden water tower is closed due to construction works. But Hilderink and his team found another location at a stone’s throw away. An idyllic park with a statue of a flute player. So this event will go in the books as the Smoke am Wasserturm, the little flute edition.

Mini fair

Several German importers and distributors of premium handmade cigars are coming to the event. They all have booths to showcase their products, and some might even bring the manufacturers along. No names of cigar manufacturers have been confirmed yet, as committing is impossible due to the current status of the pandemic. But many distributors did commit. Those include Arnold Andre, Blanco Cigars, Don Stefano (Perdomo, PDR) Kleinlagel (Kristoff, Casdagli, Epic, Black Label Trading Company), Kohlhase (Fuente, Ashton, Rocky Patel), August Schuster (RoMa Craft, Indian Motorcycle, CLE, Asylum), STG (CAO, Balmoral), Villiger, and Wolfertz (Alec Bradley, AJ Fernandez, My Father, Tatuaje, Oliva, Plasencia, Caldwell, DH Boutique Brands). Other distributors might be added to the line-up.

The event will take place outdoors and in tents with plenty of seating. There is catering, and some BBQ snacks are included in the ticket. But you can also opt for an ‘all in’ package that includes a full BBQ dinner. 

Tickets can be purchased on www.smoke-gronau.com. Regular tickets are €69 and include cigars, plus some snacks from the BBQ and two drinks. The de-luxe package is €92.50 and includes the same as the standard package plus a luxury barbecue dinner from Robert Mayer Catering.
