La Aurora honors Fernando Leon
La Aurora honors Fernando Leon. In the year that Leon would turn 100, La Aurora honors their former CEO with not now but two limited edition cigars. One for the whole world to enjoy, and the other exclusively available in the Dominican Republic. It is not the first time that La Aurora honors Don Fernando Leon, as the Leon Jimenes brand has a Don Fernando edition as well. That was the Leon Jimenes #4 but with a Cameroon wrapper.
The new cigars, both limited editions, won’t have a Cameroon wrapper though. Fernando Leon was one of the top experts in Dominican Tobacco. His passion was Corojo leaf and his love was experimenting with Corojo as a wrapper. He made plenty of special projects with Corojo wrappers. That’s why La Aurora took Corojo from the 2008 harvest for this release. The binder is Ecuadorian Sumatra. The filler comes from Peru, Brazil, Nicaragua, and of course from the Dominican Republic. From the Cibao Valley to be more precise.

Fernando Leon
Fernando Leon was the son of La Aurora founder Eduardo Leon Jimenes. The company was founded in 1903 and is the oldest still working cigar factory in the Dominican Republic. Young Fernando joined the family business in 1937, at the age of 15 or 16. And he dedicated his life to growing La Aurora and the Dominican cigar industry on a global scale,
The first limited edition is a Lancero and will be launched soon. But Lanceros lovers worldwide will be disappointed as this is not just a limited edition. It is also a regional edition and is exclusively available in the Dominican Republic. The second release, which is set for the autumn, is a global release. This will be a belicoso and it will come in boxes of 10. The Lancero also comes in boxes of ten cigars.
