Habanos honors Heinrich Villiger

July 18, 2022 Inspector Z 2 min read

Habanos honors Heinrich Villiger. Last year, the chairman of the Villiger Cigar Company celebrated his 90th birthday. And instead of having a Villiger Cigar for the occasion, it is Habanos honoring this milestone. In true Habanos style, the cigar arrives a year late and will be coming to Germany, Austria, and Poland later this month. It is a regional edition for 5th Avenue, the exclusive Habanos distributor for these three countries. It was supposed to be a 2020 release, yet regional edition releases often come to the market with a delay of a year or more.

The cigar is the Ramon Allones Sir Henry. And why Habanos is honoring Heinrich Villiger, the chairman of a new world cigar company you might ask? It’s simple. Heinrich Villiger is the co-founder of 5th Avenue and the co-founder of Intertabak. 5th Avenue is the exclusive Habanos distributor for Germany, Austria, and Poland. Intertabak is the exclusive distributor for Switzerland.

Ramon Allones

The cigar itself is a Geniales, which is a 5 ⁄₁₀x54 Toro in the Ramon Allones blend. The cigar has the regular Ramon Allones ring, and then a second ring that we all know from the regional edition program. But this one is a little different, as it also mentions Sir Henry and his age, 90. The shape and design of the ring is similar to the Punch Sir David, made in honor of David Tang and for some of the Phoenicia anniversaries.

The cigar comes in boxes of 18. It is priced at €19 in Germany. There are 18.000 boxes available of which the majority will go to German retailers. The prices in Austria and Poland will be in the same region. The retailers can expect the cigars at the end of this month or early October.
