Oliva Pays Tribute To The Factory
Oliva pays tribute to the factory. More precise to the renovation of the TABOLISA factory in Esteli. The company does that by releasing a special box containing 10 Oliva serie V Double Robusto cigars in a box that looks like the Tabacalera de Oliva Nicaragua S.A. No.1 factory, the main factory of the cigar maker. There is a second, smaller factory as well. In 2019 Tabolisa 1 was fully renovated.
The box mimics the front façade of the factory, with 10 individual coffins all containing one cigar. There are 1000 boxes made, and the cigars are the first 10.000 Oliva Serie V Double Robusto cigars that were made after the renovation.
“We are so proud that we can offer this little piece of art to the market.”, says Fred Vandermarliere. “We do it to honor the people who worked day and night to make this happen. But we dedicate it especially to one person: Wilman Cahvarria Galeano, the architect who not only designed ‘Tabolisa Uno,’ but also oversaw the project. A fantastic guy turned all our wishes into reality. Last year Wilman unfortunately passed away due to Covid-19 and we still miss him every day. As the entire project is in large part due to Wilman’s dedication and hard work we want to commemorate him with this first box 0001. It will be presented to his family in Wilman’s honor.”

During the renovation, the factory got a new façade, new areas for the employees to eat and take breaks. A new lounge was added as well as an infirmary. The rolling room was made bigger and all other rooms were renovated as well. To become a more sustainable factory, all rooms are now lit by LED lights, powered by solar panels.
