Tabacalera Has a Few Special Releases Each Year
Tabacalera, the Spanish Habanos distributor, has a few special releases each years. Two different lines of aged cigars in vintage style jars, and since a few years the Tauromaquia. The Tauromaquia is a tribute to the Spanish matadors, the bull fighters who are still very popular in the southern European country. The cigars for the Tauromaquia release are all regular production, it’s the art on the limited edition boxes that make these releases special.
This year, Tabacalera chose the Hoyo de Monterrey Le Hoyo de San Juan to honor Manolete. Manolete is the nickname for Manuel Laureano Rodríguez Sánchez. Manolete lived from 1917 till 1947, when he was fataly injured during a bull fight in the town of Linares. Each of the glossy boxes contain 10 cigars with a colorful sketch of Manolete.
Only 1,000 numbered boxes of the 2022 “Tauromaquia y Manolete” are being produced. The boxes retail for 250 euros. This year’s release is the the fourth release in the Tauromaquia series. The previous releases were an aged Montecristo Double Edmundo honoring Morante de la Puebla, Partagas Serie P #2 for Joselito el Gallo, and the Romeo y Julieta Wide Churchill for Juan Belmonte.
