J.C. Newman sues Levy Café, the company behind Cuban Stock for a trademark infringement. J.C. Newman has held the trademark over The American since 2016, even though the brand is much older. And since 2019, Newman is selling The American.

Even though the brand isn’t a J.C. Newman original there is a deep connection with the brand. The original cigar was made at the El Reloj cigar factory, which is now owned by J.C. Newman.

Cuban Stock makes a bourbon infused cigar with the name Cuban Stock Delicoso Cabinet Selection The American, and J.C. Newman claims that’s a trademark infriction.
