Viaje is Releasing a Cigar as a Tribute to Japan
It’s called The Geisha and it comes in two different wrappers. The cigars will be in separate compartments in the box to resemble a bento box.
“My interest in Japan goes back to my childhood,” says Andre Farkas, owner of Viaje. “My father is a seventh-degree black belt and world-renowned martial arts instructor, so I was exposed to Japanese culture at an early age. In 2010 I released my first Japanese-inspired line of cigars, Satori. In 2016 I took my first trip to Japan. The trip had a profound impact on me. It was during this trip I started to think about The Geisha.” Farkas is also a fan of Japanese whisky.
The Geisha comes in a single size, a perfecto that measures 6 3/4 inches by 52 ring gauge. The cigars are made at Aganorsa Leaf in Nicaragua and come in boxes of 28, 14 of which have a Maduro wrapper and 14 a Natural wrapper. The Maduro wrapper is Mexican San Andres, the Natural is Nicaraguan Corojo 99. The binder and filler are all tobacco from Aganorsa Leaf. There will be 400 boxes available this run, but there will be a second run sometime in the future.
