Arturo Fuente Continue Their Return to Nicaragua

July 13, 2022 Billie 1 min read

More than four years ago, at the Puro Sabor festival in 2018, Arturo Fuente announced its return to Nicaragua. Not many people know that before arriving in the Dominican Republic, Arturo Fuente made cigars in Nicaragua. Due to several reasons, such as the Covid19 Pandemic and social unrest in Nicaragua, it took more than 4 years to get the project starting but earlier this week they finally broke ground.

The plans have changed slightly from four years ago. The design is less colourful but most of the details are highly kept secrets. Fuente says it may or may not move some of its current lines to Nicaragua or that the new factory will only be used for new lines. The size of the factory is also a secret but the plans look much bigger than in 2018. How many people Fuente will hire is a big question, but with cigar bunchers and rollers, workers for pre-industry, tobacco processing and packaging plus people to work on the Nicaraguan Fuente farms, it looks like a good addition to the job market in Estelí.
