Foundation Cigars Pays Tribute to Mexico and its Ancient Mesoamerican People with a New Brand
Foundation Cigars pays tribute to Mexico and its ancient Mesoamerican people with a new brand called Olmec. showcases a Mexican San Andrés wrapper. According to anthropological history, the Olmecs were the first major civilization in Mexico, and occupied the tropical lowlands of modern-day Tabasco and Veracruz, including the San Andrés region where tobacco is currently grown.
“I have admired the Olmec civilization since I first travelled to San Andrès to purchase tobacco back in 2006,” says brand owner Nick Melillo.
For the production of the cigars, Foundation Cigars went to A.J. Fernandez. He makes these cigars with San Andres wrappers around Nicaraguan binder and filler. There are two versions, Claro and Maduro. Both versions are available as a corona gorda, robusto, toro, grande and double corona.
