Two Major Players Drop Out of Intertabac

July 29, 2022 Billie 2 min read

In 2020 4 major cigar companies dropped a bomb by pulling out of the PCA Convention & Trade show. Those four are Drew Estate, Altadis USA, STG and Davidoff. And now two of these major players are dropping out of Intertabac as well. Both Davidoff and STG have announced that they won’t have a booth at the tradeshow coming this September. Altadis USA never had a booth at Intertabac, while Drew Estate is still exhibiting at the show in Dortmund, Germany.

Some smaller players such as Schuster Cigars, a German producer and distributor for RoMa Craft and CLE also decided not to be at the show. With the recent news that Vandermaliere Cigar Family acquiring Wolfertz GMBH and Woermann Cigars, it is a question whether the 2023 Intertabac show has these 3 large booths combined into 1 as well. Woermann, Cortes and Wolfertz all have big booths.

The exit of STG also means that the large AGIO booth, which also included La Flor Dominicana, won’t be at the trade show. Arnold Andre, up until a few years ago the German distributor for Davidoff is also missing from the vendor list this year.

Davidoff released a statement about their decision which reads “InterTabac is undoubtedly an important international platform and an important meeting place for the industry. However, the trade fair has changed a lot over the last few years. It has become bigger and many new tobacco products and segments have been added, with the consequence that, from our point of view, the product group of handmade premium cigars, which is key for us as producer of handmade premium cigars, has lost relevance. Based on this fact and considering that we have been able to further develop and enhance our relationship with our valued customers and partners by providing dedicated support and service in other ways, we have come to the conclusion that we will continue to attend InterTabac as guests, however, that for the time being, we will no longer have a booth at the fair.

On the other hand, for the first time in the history of the trade show, there will be a cigar pavilion with over 30 new companies that never been to Intertabac before, including JRE, Karen Berger, Casa Magna and many others.
