Europe to Receive Exclusive Joya de Nicaragua Cuatro Cinco
In 2020, Joya de Nicaragua released a unique, limited edition, Cuatro Cinco vitola with a slightly tweaked blend specially for the Asian market, with references to the Asian culture. Last year, 2021, there was a limited edition Cuatro Cinco for the American market. So it’s not unexpected that Europe would be the next recipient of an exclusive Joya de Nicaragua Cuatro Cinco. On the last day of the year 2022, Joya released the news that the cigar is coming soon.
The Edicion Europa is a 7×52 box-pressed double corona. The blend consists of a Nicaraguan Criollo wrapper over a Dominican Volado binder. The fillers are all Nicaraguan and part of the filler is a rum barrel aged ligero. There will be 500 boxes of 10 available, half the number of the 1000 boxes released for Asia in 2020 even though Europe is a larger cigar market and Joya de Nicaragua has a long history with Europe. During the Nicaraguan embargo under the Reagan presidency, it was the European partners of Joya de Nicaragua that helped the company survive.
“Once it became possible to travel again after the pandemic, we started traveling to Europe to visit some of our oldest friends,” says Juan Martínez, executive president of Joya de Nicaragua. “It is a great moment in the cigar industry in Europe right now and we knew that we wanted to spend time with them. After such a stressful period, having your friends by your side feels even better. Europe has deserved this Cuatro Cinco special edition for a long time and we were more than happy to announce it last September at InterTabac 2022, in Germany. This is a way to celebrate relationships that were formed decades ago.”
