Amidst Record Shortages, Habanos S.A. Unveils a Flurry of New Cigars at Habanos Festival – Including the Montecristo Open Slam

March 22, 2023 Inspector L 2 min read

In the midst of the biggest shortage of Cuban cigars in recorded history, Habanos S.A. is releasing a record number of new cigars in new vitolas at the current Habanos festival. A new Partagas line, a new LCDH and Habanos Specialist exclusive Partagas, a new LCDH and Habanos Specialist exclusive Romeo y Julieta, a thicker Bolivar Gold Medal for the LCDH franchise, a new La Gloria Cubana, a new Vegueros, a Cohiba Esplendidos Gran Reserva and also this brand new Montecristo Open with the name Slam. Lesser new cigars, and focussing more on the core products would be a better choice in the opinion of Cigar Inspector, but hey, what do we know?

The Montecristo Open Slam is another brand new vitola for Habanos, a 5 3/5 x52 Idilicos. The cigars will come in boxes of both 15 and 20 cigars. According to Habanos, this cigar is designed for people who like to smoke outdoors. The name fits in with the rest of the series, with the golf inspired names as Eagle and Master. Slam refers to the Grand Slam of winning the PGA Championship, the U.S. Open, the Open Championship and The Masters.
