The Legacy Lives On: Drew Estate Pays Tribute to Best Cigar Prices Founder with New ACID Blatt Cigar
Allan Blatt started selling cigars from the back of his car in 1996, and in 1997 he was probably the first retailer to go online while in the same time he launched a catalogue called Best Cigar Prices. Blatt saw that the concept was a huge success before he passed away in 2006. Now Drew Estate pays tribute to the man with a new ACID, the ACID Blatt.
The new cigar, made at La Gran Fabrica Drew Estate in Estelí, Nicaragua, is a 5×54 Robusto Gordo with an Ecuadorian Sumatra wrapper and Nicaraguan binder and filler. The cigar is infused with aromatic spices and herbs, and has a creamy floral finish.
“While he has been gone nearly 20 years, Allan continues to have a profound influence on my life,” said Jonathan Drew, co-founder and president of Drew Estate, via a press release. “Witnessing his legacy live on is a tremendous personal honour, and I’m looking forward to raising a glass and some divine smoke to my dear friend on August 5 during our event at BCP’s onsite location.”
Best Cigar Prices also operates Best Cigar Pub, a restaurant, bar and retail store in Drums, Pa.
“This is a big day for our company,” said Greg Fox, president and CEO of Best Cigar Prices. “To partner with Drew Estate on this project is very meaningful, especially because of Allan’s friendship with Jonathan Drew. I started with the company when Allan hired me 20 years ago, and I know that he would be so happy to see this tribute if he were with us today. I can’t thank Jonathan and the entire Drew Estate team enough for making this a reality and honouring the man who started it all for us, and for choosing such a terrific cigar to do it.”
