Habanos to Release Limited Edition Cigars for 2023 Despite Industry Challenges
For the last 20 years, Habanos SA, has been releasing three limited editions each year, with the exception of 2020 where only one cigar was released. The next year, it was back to three but in 2022, in the aftermath of covid, lack of tobacco, social unrest and supply chain issues due to unpaid bills to suppliers, Habanos did not release any limited editions. For a while it seemed that there would be no released for 2023 as well, as nothing was mentioned during the annual Habanos festival.
But several sources are now confirming that Habanos will release three limited editions for the 2023 program, although, with Habanos, it is always the question if they are released in time. The 2023 program consists of a H. Upmann Magnum Finite, 5 1/8 x53 in size, Ramon Allones Absolutos, 6 3/8 x47 and a Trinidad Cablidos of 6 1/8 x49. The Ramon Allones size is the same as the Montecristo Herederos, the other sizes are new for Habanos. Trinidad will come in boxes of 12, Ramon Allones in boxes of 20 and Upmann in boxes of 25. Production numbers have not been disclosed.
Habanos claims that the tobacco for their Edición Limitada cigars have been aged for two years, and that’s worth the extra money, but two years is a joke for most new world cigars that use tobacco that’s much older.
