Nica Oro Unveils Belleau Wood: A Tribute in Taste to the Legendary Battle
Nica Oro, the new company of Indiana Ortez, Jared Ingrisano and Trevor McKnigh has released the Belleau Wood, The three blend line is names after a famous battle in France during the first world war. The cigars, available in Connecticut Shade, Habano and Maduro in the 6×54 Toro, 5×52 Robusto, 7½x50 Presidente and 6×60 Gordo sizes are Cuban sandwich style cigars. That means that the filler contains a mixture of longfiller and shortfiller tobaccos. All the wrappers are from Ecuador, while the filler and binder are all Nicaraguan. The Belleau Wood Sweets will be released at a later date.
“Our cigars namesake pays homage to the Devil Dogs we remember every day, by presenting an everyday cigar,” said Ortez, who blended the cigars, in a press release when the cigars were announced last month. “This project is very exciting for me! Learning about the history and significance of the battle really allowed me to take what is normally a regular cigar for this market segment and focus on a memorable blend using choice tobaccos, something I don’t think is given it’s due with these types of everyday cigars.”
