Unveiling the Mystery: Don Doroteo’s Salt of the Earth Blends with Secret Andullo Tobacco

June 13, 2023 Inspector L 1 min read

Don Doroteo, a relative newcomer in the cigar industry, is releasing two new blends under the Salt of the Earth name. But the company refuses to give any other information about the blends than the information that they use andullo tobacco in the blend. They keep the rest a secret to heighten the sense of discovery and anticipation, same as what Quesada did with their Heisenberg cigars.

Andullo tobacco is a Dominican tobacco which is wrapped in large pods instead of fermented in pilones. These yaguas as they are called look like long burritos and are wrapped with rope to compress the contents even more. The same technique is used with some tobacco in the Amazon, best known for the use in CAO Amazon cigars and as Tambolaka in Indonesia. The tobacco is usually used for pipe smoking or chewing tobacco, but occasionally it makes its way into cigars.

The cigars will debut at the PCA Convention & Trade show early July.
