Alec Bradley Unveils BCN-143 as Latest Addition to Fine & Rare Series
The latest addition to the Alec Bradley Fine & Rare series, the BCN-143, is en route to cigar stores and will officially be released this Saturday by Forged Cigar Co.. The BCN-143 is a box-pressed double robusto measuring 7 x 50, staying true to the Fine & Rare line’s tradition by incorporating a blend of 10 different tobaccos. The cigar features a Honduran Trojes criollo 98 wrapper leaf from the La Vega Coyol farm. Underneath, it employs two binder leaves: one Honduran Trojes criollo 98 and one criollo leaf from Nicaragua’s Estelí region.
The filler is composed of three ligero leaves sourced from the upper priming of the tobacco plant, known for their robust flavor and strength. All three are criollo 98 varietals, with one originating from Honduras’s Jamastran region, another from Honduras’s Trojes region, and the third from Jalapa in Nicaragua. In addition, the filler contains four viso leaves from the middle section of the plant, which offer a milder flavor compared to ligero. These include a Honduran Jamastran criollo 98 leaf, a Honduran Trojes corojo 99 leaf, a Honduran Jamastran corojo leaf, and a Nicaraguan corojo 99 leaf from Jalapa.
The flavor profile begins with honey and natural sweetness, followed by earthy and woody notes, and concludes with honey sweetness, hazelnut, and earth, according to a press release from Forged Cigar Co..
Bradley Rubin, brand ambassador for Alec Bradley, expressed excitement about the new blend: “Alec Bradley Fine & Rare BCN-143 is one of the final blends that Alec and I developed with Alan Rubin. It embodies our passion for exceptional tobacco and our commitment to carrying the brand forward with STG. I’m really looking forward to sharing this new expression with Alec Bradley fans, old and new.” Manufactured by a single pair of artisans at the Raíces Cubanas factory in Honduras, the BCN-143 is priced at $25.99 per cigar and $259.90 for a box of 10 cigars. Production is limited to 2,500 boxes, equating to a total run of 25,000 cigars. The cigar’s launch is scheduled for Saturday, November 11, as a nod to the shipping date of the original Fine & Rare, which was released in 2011.
