Sobremesa Brûlée Blue Wagashi: A Unique Toro Cigar Collaboration by Smoke Inn, Dunbarton Tobacco & Trust, and Cigar Dojo
The latest addition to the Sobremesa Brûlée Blue line, the Sobremesa Brûlée Blue Wagashi, is set to ship to consumers this week.
According to Smoke Inn, preorders for the Sobremesa Brûlée Blue Wagashi, an exclusive collaboration between Smoke Inn, Dunbarton Tobacco & Trust, and Cigar Dojo, will begin reaching consumers this week. The new cigar is a 6 x 50 toro and is distinct from the standard Sobremesa Brûlée Blue blend, featuring an Ecuadorian Connecticut wrapper, a Mexican San Andrés negro binder, and Nicaraguan fillers.
One notable difference is that the Wagashi is trunk-pressed, giving it a unique appearance compared to the regular round Brûlée Blue cigars. Each cigar in this limited release has an MSRP of $17.95 and comes in boxes of 13. Abe Dababneh, founder of Smoke Inn, stated that the company will start shipping preorders during the week and intends to make the remaining cigars available on its website, possibly as early as the following week.
When the cigar was announced in April, Steve Saka, the founder of Dunbarton Tobacco & Trust, explained his journey in creating this new blend: “I have been tinkering with a larger format of my Sobremesa Brulée Blue liga for a couple of years on and off. My original intent was to craft a ‘Big Blue,’ but when the opportunity arose to create something special for Dojo, it refocused my efforts, as the Brulée blend is one of Sensei’s favourites. Trunk pressing this liga proved to be quite a challenge, not only due to bruising and splitting of the shade wrappers but how it impacted the flavour and burn.”
Wagashi, a category of Japanese dessert, is popularly known for mochi in the Western world.
Cigar Dojo, a prominent online cigar blog and community, has collaborated with various brands to create Dojo-themed cigars, most of which have been exclusive to specific retailers.
