Ernesto Perez-Carrillo is set to captivate cigar enthusiasts with his latest creation, the Essence Series, which delves into the unique characteristics of different wrapper types. This new series, crafted in the Dominican Republic at Casa Carrillo, begins with two distinct lines: Sumatra and Maduro. Each line is designed to highlight the specific nuances brought by their respective wrappers, providing aficionados with a rich and varied smoking experience.
The Sumatra line features an Ecuadorian Sumatra wrapper, complemented by two binder leaves—one from Nicaragua and the other from Honduras—and a blend of fillers sourced from Nicaragua and the Dominican Republic. This combination promises a complex and balanced profile, perfect for those who appreciate a medium-bodied cigar with depth and character.
On the other hand, the Maduro line is adorned with a Mexican San Andrés wrapper, paired with a Honduran binder and Nicaraguan filler. This blend aims to offer a rich, medium-bodied smoke that showcases the Maduro wrapper’s signature boldness and sweetness.
Both lines in the Essence Series are available in three sizes, each meticulously crafted to ensure optimal flavour and smoking experience. Unlike other box-pressed offerings from E.P. Carrillo such as Pledge, La Historia, or Allegiance, the Essence Series maintains a traditional round shape.
