OZ Family Cigars Launches Firsat Line

July 5, 2024 Inspector X 2 min read

OZ Family Cigars has introduced a third regular-production line to its portfolio, responding to customer demand for a milder option. This new line, named Firsat, translates to “opportunity” in Turkish, reflecting the heritage of brand owner Tim Ozgener, who is of Turkish and Armenian descent. The cigars began shipping last week after being showcased at this year’s Premium Cigar Association (PCA) trade show. Originally slated for an April launch, the release was delayed due to complications with box production.

Firsat cigars are crafted in the Dominican Republic at Ernesto Perez-Carrillo’s Casa Carrillo factory. The blend features a high-priming Connecticut-seed wrapper from Ecuador, an Ecuador Habana binder, and Nicaraguan filler, including tobacco from the island of Ometepe. The combination promises a unique and satisfying smoking experience for those seeking a milder cigar.

The Firsat line comes in four distinct sizes: the F52, measuring 5 inches by 52 ring gauge and priced at $12.25; the F55, at 5 1/2 inches by 55 ring gauge, costing $13.25; the F60, at 6 inches by 60 ring gauge, priced at $14.50; and the F54, at 7 inches by 54 ring gauge, available for $14. While Ozgener’s Bosphorus line is box-pressed and the Aramas line is round, Firsat features a “soft press,” offering a balanced shape that falls between the two.

So far, the F54 is the only size that has not seen a full release. Only 42 boxes of the F54 have shipped, with the remainder expected to be distributed by the end of July. This staggered release ensures that the quality and presentation of the cigars meet OZ Family Cigars’ high standards.

The brand was introduced through two soft launches in Turkey. The first event took place on June 11 at Peat & Sherry, while the second occurred on June 13 at the Swissôtel, located on the Asian and European sides of Istanbul, respectively. These events allowed aficionados in Turkey to be among the first to experience the Firsat line, generating buzz and anticipation for its wider release.

Overall, the addition of Firsat to the OZ Family Cigars portfolio not only expands their offerings but also honours the cultural heritage of its owner while meeting the evolving tastes of cigar enthusiasts. The combination of premium ingredients and careful craftsmanship positions Firsat as a noteworthy addition to the cigar market.
