Meerapfel Cigar Meir Line Expands with Two New Sizes
After a soft launch earlier this year, the Meerapfel Cigar Meir line is now introducing two new sizes for their full release this week.
The company has announced that the Meerapfel Cigar Meir Corona Gorda (5 1/2 x 46, $43/€46) and Lonsdale (6 3/4 x 43, $55/€51) are shipping to stores worldwide. These additions bring the Meir line to a total of six vitolas. Meerapfel Cigar, the flagship brand for the family, names each of its lines after a different family member. Meir Meerapfel established the family’s original cigar factory in Untergrombach, Germany, in 1876.
Previously, the company had kept the blends of its cigars undisclosed, but that has now changed. In a press release, Meerapfel Cigar confirmed that the Meerapfel family, who controls the modern-day supply of Cameroon wrapper, uses Cameroon wrapper for its cigar blends.
“Respecting the history of the Meerapfel family and cigar culture, we have selected these classical vitolas to proudly stage the genuine Meerapfel vintage Cameroon wrapper, which dresses all our Master Blends,” said Reinhard Pohorec, VP of Meerapfel Cigar, in a press release. “The Meir Master Blend, radiating elegance and finesse, is particularly amplified in these vitolas, culminating in a very complex and mystical experience.”
With the exception of the Double Robusto vitola, which is sold in 10-count boxes that double as large ashtrays, the brand’s cigars are sold in boxes of 25. These boxes are designed with the cigars placed side-by-side in a single row of 25, and include a false bottom containing a Boveda pack for humidification. Production is limited to 613 boxes per vitola per year.
