La Gloria Cubana Gran Legado: Meet the Artisans Behind the Cigar
When perusing the shelves at the local tobacconist, cigar enthusiasts typically know little about the artisans behind their favourite smokes. Scandinavian Tobacco Group aims to change that with the release of a new, limited-edition La Gloria Cubana cigar that highlights the individuals who crafted it. Called La Gloria Cubana Gran Legado, these cigars, which started shipping to retailers earlier this month, feature the signatures of their makers.
“La Gloria Cubana Gran Legado confirms that our people matter as much as our tobacco. These artisans are family, and we work together to make each high-quality cigar with pride and passion,” says La Gloria Cubana brand manager Corey Beardsley.
Produced at El Credito, a gallery within the General Cigar Dominicana factory in the Dominican Republic, Gran Legado cigars are rolled exclusively by artisans with a minimum of 15 years of experience. The cigars come in one size: a double-tapered Perfecto measuring an impressive 7 1/4 inches long by 62 ring gauge, with a suggested retail price of $14.99 each. The blend is medium- to full-bodied and consists of a dark Connecticut broadleaf wrapper, a Nicaraguan binder, and a mix of Dominican and Nicaraguan filler.
To further celebrate the artisans, the inner lid of each 10-count box features a photo of two pairs of hands—a buncher’s and a roller’s—working on a cigar. Only 1,900 boxes are being released.
La Gloria Cubana Gran Legado is distributed by Forged Cigar Co., a subsidiary of Scandinavian Tobacco Group. Due to copyright reasons, the non-Cuban La Gloria Cubana is not available outside of the United States.
