Illusione’s Group Of Five Now Available

August 1, 2024 Inspector X 2 min read

The first release in a series of five cigars debuts, encapsulating the enigmatic allure Illusione is known for.

Beetles in the humidor usually signal trouble, but in the case of Illusione’s latest release, a beetle is at the heart of the brand’s mystique. Introducing “The Group of Five,” the newest addition to Illusione’s portfolio, now available in stores. This inaugural release comes in a single size—a robusto named RB—with four more sizes expected to follow.

Crafted entirely from Nicaraguan tobacco, the blend features primarily Criollo ’98 and Corojo ’99. However, company owner and founder Dion Giolito reveals a twist: the filler includes a “higher priming viso from a new varietal seed that hasn’t been grown in Nicaragua until recently.”

The RB measures 5 inches by 52 ring gauge, with a suggested retail price of $16 per cigar. Packaged in 15-count boxes, the cigars are arranged in three layers of five. Production takes place at the renowned Aganorsa Leaf factory in Nicaragua.

The Group of Five

As with many Illusione releases, “The Group of Five” is shrouded in mysticism and cryptic allure. The beetle motif echoes the scarab amulets of ancient Egypt, while the name “Group of Five” alludes to a clandestine assembly of influential executives whose decisions reverberate globally. This nod to New World Order theories is intentional, as Giolito, a vocal conspiracy theorist, often infuses his packaging with references to U.F.O.s, secret societies, and other esoteric themes.

The identities of these executives remain undisclosed—perhaps because, as Giolito suggests, they might be listening.
