Gellis Family Cigars Begins Shipping New Saunter Cigar

September 4, 2024 Inspector X 2 min read

Warped Cigars founder Kyle Gellis launched a new company in March called Gellis Family Cigars, introducing two brands under this new entity: Marevas, which debuted in the spring, and Saunter, which begins shipping today.

Saunter is currently available in a single size, a robusto that measures 5 1/4 inches by 48 ring gauge. The cigar features a Connecticut-seed wrapper from Ecuador, with an Ecuadoran binder and filler tobaccos from Nicaragua and the Dominican Republic. Rolled at Tabacalera La Isla in the Dominican Republic, Saunter is packaged in boxes of 12 and carries a suggested retail price of $15 each. While additional sizes are planned, specific release dates have not yet been determined. Gellis uses Tabacalera La Isla for several Warped releases as well. Tabacalera La Isla is the factory of Hostos Quesada.

The name “Saunter” reflects the leisurely, unhurried approach intended for enjoying this cigar. Gellis describes the blend as complex and medium-bodied, with deep flavours and nuances meant to be savoured at a relaxed pace. The name also pays homage to his Cane Corso, who would often saunter around the office and is featured on the band.

Although Gellis Family Cigars operates as an independent company, the brands under its label are distributed by Warped.
