Tatuaje Monster Sampler Heading to Retailers

September 6, 2024 Inspector X 2 min read

A new Tatuaje Monster Sampler is heading to retailers, featuring a collection of 14 Monster cigars, all crafted in the same size. With Labour Day signalling the unofficial end of summer, Pete Johnson of Tatuaje Cigars is turning his attention to fall and its signature spooky holiday, Halloween. Over the years, Tatuaje’s Monster Series has gained a devoted following, and this latest release is set to excite cigar enthusiasts once again. The Tatuaje Monster Smash sampler, which includes 13 Monster Series blends plus a special release, began shipping to retailers on September 3.

Tatuaje has been releasing Halloween-themed cigars since 2008, with each Monster Series cigar named after iconic horror characters from movies and TV shows, such as Dracula, Frankenstein, and Freddy Krueger. In addition to these yearly releases, Johnson introduced samplers, starting with the Little Monsters. In 2021, Tatuaje released the Monster Mash, the first sampler to combine all 13 Monster Series blends, along with a special cigar called the Creature, inspired by the 1954 film Creature from the Black Lagoon. The Creature was made using Nicaraguan tobacco grown by the Garcia family.

This year’s Monster Smash sampler provides more consistency than previous editions. It includes all 14 cigars, each rolled in the same box-pressed robusto size, measuring 5 1/4 inches by 52 ring gauge. The sampler includes past Monster Series cigars: Frank, Drac, Face, Wolf, Mummy, Jason, Jekyll, Hyde, Krueger, Michael, Chuck, Tiff, Bride, and Creature.

The cigars are housed in a hinged box that opens like a book, with seven cigars on each side. The Monster Smash sampler is priced at $175 per box, translating to $12.50 per cigar. Only 13,000 boxes have been produced, all made at My Father Cigars S.A. in Nicaragua.
