Diamond Crown Unveils a New Look and Size at Big Smoke Las Vegas
This year, cigar aficionados attending Big Smoke at the Paris Las Vegas Hotel & Casino will be the first to experience J.C. Newman’s iconic Diamond Crown line with a new size and updated design. Nearly 30 years after its 1995 relaunch, Diamond Crown is debuting a refreshed presentation that celebrates the brand’s heritage while introducing a modern touch, just in time for J.C. Newman’s 130th anniversary in 2025.
Originally founded by Julius Caeser Newman in 1895, J.C. Newman first produced the Diamond Crown line in its early Cleveland days using Cuban tobacco. The brand went dormant before World War II, but it was revived in 1995 by Stanford J. Newman and Carlito Fuente to celebrate the company’s centenary. Drew Newman, fourth-generation owner, reflected on this legacy: “My great-grandfather first rolled it a century ago. In the ’90s, we reintroduced it with what we believed was the most elegant packaging on the market.” With packaging quality vastly improving over the past few decades, Newman explains that they wanted the presentation of Diamond Crown to match the quality of the cigars themselves.
Vrijdag Premium Printing, known for its intricate cigar bands, crafted the new labels and bands, adding a sophisticated touch that pays homage to the brand’s heritage. The Diamond Crown boxes have also been resized, now holding 20 cigars rather than 15.
Alongside the new look, a new size joins the line: the Diamond Crown Classic Belicoso No. 9 (6 x 50), priced at $17. This new addition uses the same blend of Connecticut shade wrappers, Dominican binder, and filler, ensuring the flavour and quality remain unchanged. Attendees at Big Smoke’s All-Access Party will be among the first to sample this new Diamond Crown release, marking another milestone for this celebrated brand crafted by Tabacalera A. Fuente in the Dominican Republic.
