Cigar Family Charitable Foundation Launches Academy of Arts in the Dominican Republic

The Cigar Family Charitable Foundation (CFCF) has officially opened the Cigar Family Academy of Arts, a state-of-the-art facility aimed at empowering Dominican students to explore careers in the arts. With backing from Hublot, this ambitious project is a milestone in transforming education in Bonao.

The Academy of Arts, part of the 23-acre Cigar Family project, features four purpose-built structures for music, art, and dance, along with an amphitheatre for performances. This new addition enhances CFCF’s mission of offering comprehensive educational opportunities. As co-founder Carlos Fuente, Jr., remarked during the inauguration, “This beautiful, state-of-the-art facility will give new opportunities to children in the Dominican Republic to pursue their passion and talent in the arts.”

The grand opening was attended by over 100 guests, including the Fuente and Newman families, Hublot executives, local dignitaries, and Grammy Award-winning artist Arturo Sandoval, who christened the amphitheatre with a memorable performance.

CFCF’s efforts have already had a significant impact. This year, the Foundation’s various schools are providing education to 440 students. Since its inception in 2004, the Foundation has invested more than $20 million, supported entirely by donations and the sale of the Toast Across America packs.

Every dollar raised goes directly to help children, thanks to the Fuente and Newman families covering all operational costs.

The Dominican government and international organisations like the United Nations have commended the Cigar Family project for its role in improving lives. As CFCF CEO Scott Lewis aptly stated, “The Cigar Family Academy of Arts will give our students the opportunity to express their creativity while learning and challenging themselves.”
