InterTabac 2026 Moves to Midweek Dates for Convenience
InterTabac 2026 will take place from 15th to 17th September in Dortmund, Germany. While the event retains its traditional time of year and location, the schedule will shift to a Tuesday through Thursday format, departing from the Thursday through Saturday structure used in recent years, including the upcoming 2025 show.
What is InterTabac?
InterTabac is one of the largest and most diverse tobacco trade shows globally, held annually in Dortmund. Unlike the PCA Convention & Trade Show, which centres around premium cigars, InterTabac caters to international distributors and showcases a wide variety of products. These include cigars, cigarettes, smokeless tobacco, vaping items, accessories, production machinery, and increasingly, tobacco-free nicotine and marijuana products. In 2024, the event hosted 800 exhibitors and attracted 14,500 attendees.
Why the Schedule Change?
According to Messe Dortmund, the event organisers, the decision to move the event to midweek is based on extensive surveys and consultations with exhibitors, visitors, advisory boards, partner associations, and exhibitor representatives. The aim is to make participation more convenient for retail professionals and improve travel logistics for both exhibitors and attendees.
Messe Dortmund explained in a press release: “The new sequence of days is not only intended to make it easier for the target group from the retail sector to participate. In addition, the international trade show will offer more ideal travelling conditions for exhibitors and visitors alike by being held on three working days.”
Historical Context
InterTabac was traditionally held from Friday to Sunday. However, after cancellations in 2020 and 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the show returned in 2022 with a Thursday through Saturday schedule. The 2026 event marks another evolution in the fair’s scheduling, aiming to align better with industry and attendee needs.
