El Pulpo Lancero: A Slim New Addition to the Lineup
Artesano del Tobacco is answering the call for a lancero-sized El Pulpo. The dark, full-bodied Nicaraguan cigar, crafted by A.J. Fernandez, is getting a sleek, pigtailed iteration called The Eel, set to hit retailers later this month.
A Fan-Driven Creation
El Pulpo has quickly built a following since its 2023 debut, known for its cephalopod-inspired branding and rich, complex flavours. Initially launched in Robusto Grande, Toro Grande, and Belicoso Grande—one of which earned a Top 10 Cigar of the Year accolade—the line later expanded with unique vitolas like The Fry and the culebra-shaped Octo Ocho.
According to Billy Fakih, co-founder and co-owner of Artesano del Tobacco, consumer input played a key role in developing The Eel. “We reached out to our fans for their input on what size they would like next,” Fakih states. “The majority expressed their desire for a lancero that showcases the beauty of our San Andrés wrapper.”
The Eel: Slim, Refined, and Unique
Measuring 7 inches with a 38-ring gauge, The Eel is more than just a stretched-out version of previous releases. While maintaining the Nicaraguan filler and binder, it features a Mexican San Andrés wrapper that has undergone a unique fermentation process, enhancing its sweetness and setting it apart from its counterparts.
Availability and Pricing
The Eel will retail for $16.50 per cigar and will be packaged in boxes of 10. Nationwide shipping is scheduled to begin on February 18, ensuring that fans of El Pulpo can soon experience this refined lancero firsthand.
With its meticulous craftsmanship and consumer-driven approach, The Eel is poised to be a standout addition to the El Pulpo family, delivering a new dimension to an already celebrated brand.
