Avowed Cigar Co. Debuts with Three Premium Blends
The team behind Maxamar Ultimate Cigars and SmallBatchCigar.com has officially entered the cigar manufacturing world with the launch of Avowed Cigar Co. Their debut lineup features three distinct blends—The Vow, New Dawn, and Awakening—crafted by Klaas Kelner’s factory in the Dominican Republic.
A Commitment to Craftsmanship: The Vow
Avowed Cigar Co. first developed The Vow after visiting Kelner Cigars S.A.S. in early 2023. This regular-production line uses an Ecuadorian Habano wrapper and binder, complemented by corojo 99, criollo 98, piloto Cubano, and San Vicente fillers. The 6.29 Toro vitola also includes an additional filler from Cotuí, Dominican Republic.
• The Vow 7.05 Corona Gorda (6 x 48) – $17 (Box of 10: $170)
• The Vow 6.29 Toro (6 x 50) – $19 (Box of 10: $190)
Aged for 18 months prior to shipping, The Vow is said to deliver an intense yet balanced smoking experience, with the 7.05 Corona Gorda offering a bolder profile than the Toro.
A Morning Smoke: New Dawn
Created to be enjoyed at any time of day, New Dawn features an Ecuadorian Connecticut-seed wrapper from A.S.P., an Ecuadorian Habano binder, and a filler blend of criollo 98, piloto Cubano, and San Vicente tobaccos. Though darker than a typical Connecticut, it remains a mild-to-medium strength cigar.
• New Dawn Robusto Grande (5 x 54) – $16 (Box of 15: $240)
• New Dawn Toro (6 x 52) – $17 (Box of 15: $255)
The Limited Edition: Awakening
The most exclusive release from Avowed Cigar Co. is Awakening, featuring a rare Ecuadorian “Capa Marron” hybrid wrapper that hasn’t been grown in over a decade. The blend includes Ecuadorian Habano binder and a ligero-heavy filler blend of criollo 98, Pennsylvania, piloto Cubano, and San Vicente tobaccos.
• Awakening (5 1/2 x 52 Robusto Extra) – $30 per cigar
• Limited to 2,000 boxes of 10 cigars
Avowed secured just four bales of this rare wrapper, making Awakening a collector’s item for serious aficionados.
The Future of Avowed Cigar Co.
Despite its deep ties to Maxamar Ultimate Cigars, Avowed Cigar Co. operates independently, with Andrew Considine and David West leading the project. Their goal is to build a legacy that blends innovation, passion, and top-tier tobacco craftsmanship.
“Our journey has only begun,” said West. “Avowed Cigars is a living story, and we invite smokers to be part of it.”
The first shipments will soon reach 10 stores across the US, with fulfilment and distribution handled out of California. Expect more from Avowed Cigar Co. in 2025, including a new limited edition called 6.29 Higher Calling.
