Viaje Honey & Hand Grenades Returns for 2025 Release
Viaje is set to release a fresh batch of its renowned Honey & Hand Grenades next week, marking the highly anticipated return of this Nicaraguan puro. The latest shipment includes the original three vitolas, staying true to the blend that last appeared in 2019.
The Returning Trio of Vitolas
Viaje has confirmed that the 2025 release will feature the same three sizes that have defined Honey & Hand Grenades since its debut:
• The Shank (5 1/4 x 52)
• The Shiv (6 1/4 x 50)
• The Rapier (6 1/2 x 44)
Each cigar is crafted with a criollo wrapper and features a unique shape—round at the head like a parejo but finishing in a tapered perfecto foot. This design contributes to its distinct burn characteristics and flavour development.
A Time-Tested Blend
A spokesperson for Viaje confirmed that nothing has changed in the blend since the 2019 release. First introduced in 2012, Honey & Hand Grenades has since seen four re-releases in 2013, 2016, and 2019. In 2021, Viaje introduced the Honey & Hand Grenades Maduro, featuring a Mexican San Andrés wrapper, and in 2022, a fourth vitola—the Katana—was added to the original line.
The Vision Behind the Blend
Andre Farkas, Viaje’s founder, described the extensive blending process behind Honey & Hand Grenades in a 2012 interview with Stogie Review. “A lot of time went into this cigar… I have been blending it for a long time. It took about four or five months to get it right,” he said. He also explained the name’s inspiration: each vitola is named after a weapon, and the red foil wrapping symbolises the moment when a blade turns red after a strike.
Availability and Pricing
While Viaje has not yet announced the MSRPs, shipments are expected to begin on Monday, 17 March 2025. Cigar enthusiasts can expect this latest batch to arrive at select retailers soon, bringing back one of Viaje’s most distinctive and sought-after cigars.
