Villiger Revamps La Capitana with a New Blend and Packaging
Villiger Cigars North America has given its La Capitana brand a complete makeover, introducing a new blend, refined packaging, and an updated production process. While the logo still features a female ship captain, the cigars now offer a milder, more balanced experience crafted at the Villiger de Nicaragua factory in Estelí.
A Shift in Blend and Character
The original La Capitana was a Nicaraguan puro made in the Dominican Republic. However, the revamped version now features:
- Wrapper: Ecuadorian Connecticut-seed
- Binder: Nicaraguan
- Filler: Dominican & Nicaraguan
This new blend delivers a mild-to-medium-bodied profile, offering a smoother, creamier smoke while maintaining the complexity Villiger cigars are known for.
Vitolas and Pricing
The new La Capitana will be available in four vitolas:
- Lonsdale (6 x 43) – $9.50 (Box of 20, $190)
- Robusto (5 x 50) – $10 (Box of 20, $200)
- Toro (6 x 50) – $10.50 (Box of 20, $210)
- Churchill (7 x 50) – $11 (Box of 20, $220)
Updated Presentation and Availability
The packaging has been refreshed with a teal colour scheme, aligning with Villiger’s La Capitana cigarillo line in Europe. The new La Capitana will debut at the 2025 PCA Convention & Trade Show (April 12–14 in New Orleans), with shipping expected in May.
This revamp represents Villiger’s continued dedication to quality and innovation, making La Capitana a standout choice for enthusiasts looking for a refined yet accessible premium cigar.
