Juan Lopez Valkyria: Exclusive Cuban Cigar for Nordic and Baltic Regions

Cuban cigar collectors have a new destination on their quest for rare smokes—Northern Europe. Habanos S.A. has unveiled the Juan Lopez Valkyria, a Regional Edition cigar exclusively for the Nordic and Baltic markets, drawing inspiration from Norse mythology.

A Tribute to the Valkyries

Named after the legendary Valkyries—warrior maidens of Norse mythology who escorted fallen Vikings to Valhalla—this limited-edition cigar pays homage to the rich history of the region. It has been developed and distributed by Habanos Nordic A.B., which oversees Cuban cigar sales in Iceland, Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Finland, Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania.

Measuring 5 1/2 inches by 52 ring gauge, the Valkyria shares its vitola with the renowned Cohiba Maduro 5 Genios. Each cigar carries a secondary band marked “Exclusivo Países Nórdicos”, reinforcing its status as a Regional Edition exclusive.

Limited Availability and Pricing

The Juan Lopez Valkyria is expected to retail between €27 and €32 (approximately $30 to $35) per cigar, with prices varying based on local tobacco taxes. It will be available in 10-count boxes, but only 6,000 boxes are being produced, making it a highly sought-after release among collectors.

While originally slated for a 2023 release, the cigar is now officially set to launch next week. Sweden and Norway will be the first to receive shipments, followed by the rest of the region.
